Arlene Wszalek was coordinating producer of one of 2010’s most acclaimed documentaries, Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin’ About Him)?. It was named one of Paste Magazine’s top documentaries of 2010, and nominated for a Writer’s Guild of America award.
Also in 2010, Wszalek produced (with Mike Rotman and Curt Smith) the live music web series “Stripped Down Live With Curt Smith.” The weekly series featured live-streamed performances and conversations with a range of prominent and upcoming musical guests, including Fitz & The Tantrums, Nightmare & The Cat, Carina Round, Matthew Sweet, Gary Jules, Peter Himmelman, The Daylights, Common Rotation and more.
With her producing partner David Leaf, Arlene Wszalek produced the lauded 2008 feature documentary The Night James Brown Saved Boston (which premiered at the 2008 SXSW Film Festival) for VH1 and Fremantle. In 2006 she was coordinating producer for Lionsgate’s The U.S. vs. John Lennon.She also co-produced a 4-hour retrospective on “Norman Lear’s Television Revolution,” released by Sony in 2009.
